Prachuap Khiri Khan

Prachuap Khiri Khan

Prachuap Khiri Khan province is located on the coast of Thailand. Major attractions include the four popular Prachuap Khiri Khan beaches – especially Ao Manao beach – as well as a host of temples that are located near the gulf coast.

At Wat Thammikaram (the ‘monkey temple’), visitors can enjoy a clear view of Prachuap Khiri Khan city and the bay. There are plenty of monkeys to see as well, needless to say. Furthermore, you can also see the ornate City gate, rated one of the prettiest in Thailand.

You can also visit Khao Chong Krachok, known as the Mirror Mountain because it has a hole in one side through which you can see the sky. However, be ready for company as the monkeys on this mountain are more than a bit playful ! You will be well advised to arm yourself with a stick to keep the audacious creatures at bay.

Also located in Prachuap Khiri Khan is the First Ocean National Park, which encompasses mountains, beaches, islands and rich historic sites. Among these is Phraya Nakom cave, which is where King Rama V built the Kuha Kerihas Pavilion.

Prachuap Khiri Khan

There is a great deal to see and do at the Prachuap Khiri Khan beaches. At Ao Manao beach, for instance, there is fishing, swimming, snorkeling and many other water sporting activities. There are sea kayaks for rent at the waterfront. And, of course, if you prefer, there is always the option of sunbathing.

The restaurants lining the Prachuap Khiri Khan beaches serve local sea foods, though occasionally you land some foreign delicacies. You might also like to spare some time and visit the sea aquarium located approximately 5km south of Ao Manao beach. The entry to this aquarium is absolutely free.
